Too many windows open up when searching through a folder due to option enabled.
Cause:
The 'Browse folders using a separate window' option is enabled for the application. The previous window remains open even after the subsequent window has been opened.
Solution:
Set the folder 'Browsing' options under the 'View' menu to use a single window.
NOTE: The following solution can be applied to any folder or Windows 95 application such as 'My Computer' or Windows Explorer. Once the settings are changed, they remain so for all subsequent windows opened in that application.
1) Do one of the following:
a) Double-click the 'My Computer' icon. (The 'My Computer' window appears.)
'My Computer'
b) Open Windows Explorer. (The 'Windows Explorer' window appears.)
2) Double-click the drive containing the files to be viewed.
3) Double-click the folder containing the files to be viewed.
4) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Options...'. (The 'Options' dialog box appears.)
5) Click the 'Folder' tab.
6) Select the 'Browse folders by using a single window that changes as you open each folder' radio button.
Browse options
7) Click 'Apply' and click 'OK'.
